ContiWinterContact TS 850
New ContiWinterContact TS 850 of the autumn of 2012.
New winter tyres for compact and mid-size cars
New tread pattern concept for especially good grip on snow
In designing the directional tread pattern for the new ContiWinterContact TS 850, engineers made a point of giving it as many biting block edges as possible. As a result, the tyre really locks into icy and snow-covered roads. The block arrangement ensures around ten per cent more biting edges when starting and braking and around twenty per cent more when negotiating curves. The slightly angled block edges to either side of the tread provide for good grip on snow, while the sharply angled blocks in the centre of the tyre have been developed for a sure hold on ice. With this "division of labour" built into the tread pattern, the tyre is better able to crush snow and unfold a more tenacious grip. The increased number of edges makes the tyre better able to penetrate the microscopically thin liquid layer that forms on ice. Better grip is the result.
Wider margin of safety on snow and ice
Even better driving performance in the wet
Handling on dry roads further enhanced
Low rolling-resistance and good mileage performance
