Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5
The Premier Studded Winter Tire in North America
The newest addition to the legendary 70-year-old Hakkapeliitta family is the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5. The tire's tread pattern and components were designed to optimize grip in the most extreme winter conditions. The Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5 was developed to be the undisputed industry leader when it comes to winter tire safety and performance.
Maximum Grip From Bear Claw and Square Stud
The unrelenting grip of the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5 comes from several technical innovations.
The bear claw boosts stud operating effectiveness. The front edge of the tread blocks features a sharp-edged, claw-like projection circled by siping, which pre-tightens and supports the stud. The sharp end of the square-shaped hard metal pin always points in the driving direction, ensuring excellent ice grip and lateral stability. The stud does not twist or give way, improving surface grip particularly in the shoulder area which is most critical to maximize braking capabilities.
Four Rubber Compounds in the Tread Result in Top Qualities
The tread of the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5, called quattrotread, features four different kinds of rubber compounds. Nokian Tyres is the first tire manufacturer to use this kind of structure for winter tires. The use of four different compounds improves driving stability, stud operation and dampens tire noise.
